The Founders

Manuel Veiga

Founder

From a young age, I was drawn to financial markets. When I turned 18, I started investing almost immediately- not because I fully understood what I was doing, but because I was curious. I didn’t have a sophisticated strategy or deep technical knowledge at the time. What I did have was a willingness to try, experiment, and learn by doing- through both successes and failures.

That learning-by-doing mindset is what eventually led to the creation of Auratus Investments. I wanted to build a group that removes unnecessary barriers to entry and welcomes people from all backgrounds, regardless of prior experience or confidence level. No two people invest the same way, and I believe that diversity of thought should be encouraged rather than constrained. Auratus is designed to recognize that and nurture it. We provide the tools, the structure, and the environment- but what you do with it is up to you.

Founding Auratus has been one of the highlights of my time at RSM. Seeing the group grow, evolve, and develop its own identity has been incredibly rewarding. To all current and future members, I wish you the best of luck- and I hope you enjoy your time at Auratus as much as I did.

Founder

My interest in finance and economics crystallised at school, where I found the effect of external factors, such as political events, on business operations and local people fascinating.

After graduating from high school, I completed an internship at the European Parliament in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and wanted to study my Bachelor's degree to better understand how companies operate and how financial strategies translate into stock prices.

However, I was apprehensive about investing myself, but started to dive into it more and joined B&R Beurs. After a year, I thought the best way to learn more was to start investing, so I planned to take part in the next Flow Trader Competition. After looking at the investment groups, it was clear that none of them were accommodating for students who went on exchanges or did internships.

I knew I was not the only one in that position, so when Manuel and I discussed the issue, we quickly found that if such a group doesn't exist, we'll do it ourselves.

This hands-on approach has been part of Auratus' DNA from the very beginning – anyone motivated and interested in investing is welcome, and we learn about investment opportunities, pitching stocks, and investment strategies while removing reservations towards investing.

I am therefore proud to have been part of Auratus Investments and see the team grow, help each other, develop investment strategies, and continue with other chairs and members, which was the goal when we first founded it.
